Title: Deep Dive (with a snorkel)

Location: Tillotson and Jackson

Statement: I painted this underwater scene because I wanted to express how beautiful and colorful the ocean is. The unique ecosystems that live under the sea are full of diverse wildlife, and I thought that showing it would add more color to filling Muncie with art.

I also think it is very important to care about our impact on the environment and how we treat it. Although we do not live close to the ocean, we should still put efforts into treating nature as a friend. By including the mask and snorkel in the coral reefs, it represents how too much human interference can be damaging and could leave permanent marks.

Bio: Samantha Fowler is a high school student at Muncie Central, and has lived in Muncie her whole life. She has also been artistic her whole life, and is a self-taught artist. Samantha loves to draw and paint things in the natural world, such as people and nature. She has never painted a box or public art before, so she is excited to expand boundaries and make something that is a part of the city.
