Cooped Up: Muncie // Call for Participation!

Join PlySpace Residents, LanDForms Dance for a virtual workshop series culminating in a one-time, socially-distanced performance on December 6th.

Ages 16 + and all experience levels are welcome for this project.

Work with Seattle-based LanDforms to perform from your home! Cooped-Up is a guided dance performance scavenger hunt experience around Muncie.  The performers begin by working with LanDforms through a series of virtual workshops to develop the content of the experimental performance.

As a performer, you will choreograph your own performance and then perform live from the comfort of your home (front yard, doorway, kitchen window, etc). Your space becomes your stage!

On December 6th, the audience will experience the performance from their cars, driving to each performance location around Muncie while listening to a timed, immersive sound score that gives them direction while also linking the performances together.

The narrative theme: pandemic lifestyle in Muncie.

LanDforms first presented Cooped-Up in Seattle with a group of fellow dancers.

This version of Cooped-Up will include group workshops and opportunities to contribute to the sound and music leading up to the performance weekend, when audience members will drive by to see the individual chapters of the show in sequence.

 REGISTER:

Cornerstone Center for the Arts (https://www.cornerstonearts.org/coopedupmuncie).

12 participants are needed for the project. Registration is first-come, first-serve.

Register by November 3rd!

THINGS TO GET EXCITED ABOUT:

  • Experimentation, play, and responding to creative briefs/prompts by the LanDforms team via online instruction

  • Work together to develop an experimental performance unlike anything done in Muncie before!

  • Workshop time: see what your collaborators are working on and give and receive feedback within an empowering framework

  • Guidance through creation of your own movement material, not being asked to "learn steps"

PERFORMER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Participants should be excited to experience dance and performance in a novel new way.

  • Participants must be available for the majority of the workshop sessions (falling on Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 – 9:00 PM) and must be available to perform on the performance dates (December 5th Dress Rehearsal & December 6th, Afternoon Performance)

  • Participants must have internet access and a computer where they can access and download the zoom webinar platform (free) for the weekly workshops.

  • Participation is in the workshop and performance series is free!

If you are not comfortable or it is not feasible for audience members to be directed to and park / idle at your homes during the performance, PlySpace will organize public performance locations for those who do not want to perform from home.
